You don’t have a problem with TV. You probably do more interesting things in your free time and prefer reading to watching television.

You like watching television, but it doesn’t control your life. You probably only watch the programmes you really like and turn of the TV when they finish.
     5-6 ticks:
You probably watch too much television. Why don’t you go for a walk instead-when your favorite programme isn’t on, of course!
    7-8 ticks:
You are totally addicted to TV! You probably love your TV more that your friends! Why not turn it off and do something more interesting?

VII Работа с текстом (приложение №2)

1 Find the numbers in the article. What do they describe?

In 1935 the radio was very popular. Families sat down every night and listened to dramas. By 1950, 94% of Americans had a radio in their house. But by 1955, 66% of American houses had their own TV. And now we have the internet. In 1996, about 30 million people used the internet. In 2005, there were over 650 million people online. They buy books send emails and now many watch TV – there are at least 200 TV channels on the internet. Will the internet kill TV?
2 Read four responses to the article and choose the correct words.
This is worrying /worried article. I work for a company that makes TVs. But I think TV is going to be here for a long time. Remember, 90% of people in the world have never used a computer.
    Chas, New York
I was surprising/surprised by something I read recently: people who use the internet watch over four hours less TV every week that people who don’t use the internet. TV is dying! This is exciting/exited news.
    Hugo, Sao Paolo
I’ m living in the UK at the moment. Internet TV is amazing/amazed. I can watch interesting/interested programmes in my first language – Chinese.
    Wei -sum Leung, London
In our house we have two TVs, two computers and five children. In the past the children argued over the remote control. How they fight to use the computer! They think TV is boring/bored and they are tiring/tired of watching it.
    Cluadia, Rome

3 Read the responses in again. Are the sentences true (T) or false (F)?
1 90% of people in the world have got a computer.
2 Chas thinks that television isn’t going to die soon
3 People who use the internet watch four hours of television a week

    IX Итоги и оценивание

Our lesson has come to the end. Let’s sum everything up. Our lesson shows that practically every student of your class spends much time on playing computer games, surfing the net, watching TV. I think you understand that it is not useful for you and I hope you won’t turn into anti-social, square-eyed couch potatoes.
    And your marks are…..
Our lesson is over. Thanks for your good work! I believe this lesson was useful and interesting for you.
