Цель урока: Развитие навыков детального чтения, введение новой лексики, развитие умений работать самостоятельно и в паре.
Задачи урока:
1.развивать навыки аудирования, чтения с извлечением информации, устной и письменной речи, языковой догадки, расширение словарного запаса по теме
2. развивать умения работать самостоятельно и в паре
3. формировать коммуникативную компетенцию, повышать мотивацию к изучению предмета через создание коммуникативно-речевых ситуаций
Планируемые результаты: Знать лексику по тексту «The lost world». Уметь работать в паре, задавать вопросы по теме «Путешествие. Туризм» и отвечать на них.

Содержание урока
I. Организационный момент.
Good morning, friends! I’m very glad to see you today. Let’s start our lesson.
II. Постановка проблемы урока.
(СЛАЙД 1-2)
T: Do you like reading? What are your favourite Russian writers? What foreign writers do you know? Look at the photo. Do you know this man? Yes, you are quite right. This is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Today we will read the extract from his novel “The Lost World.” What do you think the extract is about?
P.: I think the extract is about a place where prehistoric animals still exist.
T: Let’s check up your guesses and read the biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. (p. 70 ex. 1.)
T: Now I want you to answer my questions.
1. What country did Conan Doyle live?
2. When was he born?
3. Was he a famous writer or a traveller?
4. Was his book The Lost World the first in a series of four novels?
III.Фонетическая зарядка.
Look at the screen. We will need these words during our lesson. Let’s practice their pronunciation. (СЛАЙД 3 -4)

T: We will read the extract and match the sentences A-G from ex. 2 a on p. 70 to the gaps in the extract. Be attentive, there is one extra sentence you do not need to use.
Keys: 1 E 2 С 3 F 4 A 5 G 6 B.
T: Check your answers. (Учащиеся обмениваются листочка и проверяют ответы друг друга)
(Учащиеся читают отрывок в течение 5 минут и вставляют предложения вместо пропусков. Проверка задания осуществляется всем классом. Учащиеся по цепочке читают текст и пропущенные предложения).

T: I’d like to pay your attention to the highlighted words in the extract. Match the highlighted words to their meanings in ex. 3 a p. 71.

VII. Проверка понимания прочитанного.
T: Now you are the correspondents of the newspaper “English bridge”. We have read some new words at the beginning of our lesson. Now it’s time to match them with their definitions. Look at the cards on your desks. Match the words to their definition. (см приложение к уроку )
T: Now I want you to answer my questions.
1. When and where did the events happen?
2. What was the name of the reporter for the popular London newspaper?
3. What was he looking for that day? Why?
4. How did he finally get his wish?
5. Why did he decide to meet the mad professor?
6. What did the editor tell Ned about the professor?
VIII. Закрепление изученной лексики.
T: Let’s divide into three groups of correspondents.
The first group of correspondents will find in the text all words related to the classes of animals, the second one will find the parts of body and the third one will find types of animals. (ex 5 p 71)
Find all words related to animals and list them under the headings:
classes: reptile, human, dinosaurs
parts of body: three-toed feet, five-fingered forepaws, tails, feet, skins, muscles, brain, heads, hand, cheeks, face
types: birds, elephants, lizards, kangaroos, crocodiles, iguanas.
The second group of correspondents will find words that mean big in the extract. Make sentences using them. (ex 4 p 71)
big – huge, enormous, monstrous, great, large
The third group of correspondents will Translate the sentences from English into Russian
The dog was motionless as it slept.
The door was concealed in the wall.
The disco ball glittered under the lights.
The house was monstrous and had 20 bedrooms.
Stars gleam at night.
He left a message for there was no one at home.

IX. Контроль выполнения учащимися заданий.

X. Подведение итогов работы. Домашнее задание
